Āki Innovations Ltd (Āki) is a Kaupapa Māori social enterprise, led by two wāhine Māori of Ngāti Maniapoto, Whakatōhea and Tūhoe descent who are motivated to nurture whānau wellbeing by unpacking complex intergenerational challenges.
We’re looking to work with those that are grounded in a Kaupapa Māori approach of ‘by Māori, for Māori, with Māori, in a Māori way’ and welcome allies to journey with us.

Marcia Ranginui Charlton
Ngai Tūhoe, Ngāti Ruapani
Marcia has depth of experience in social work, rehabilitation and kaitiakitanga. She is passionate about supporting people on their journey of wellness.
Kaitaikitanga can be understood as the responsibility and practices that protect and nurture the mauri or essence and life force of people and places. Principles of whanaungatanga (meaningful connections/connectedness), tiaki (caring for people and places), and aroha (compassion) underpin our Kaupapa Māori model.
We offer kaimahi safe spaces as individuals or groups to process cultural and clinical experiences from both professional and personal contexts. As a Kaupapa Māori service we prioritise well-being within the workplace. ĀKI also partners with Tangata Tiriti to meet the needs of a wide range of people.
